Market Update
Right now the job market can now be said to be on two distinct tracks, export
orientated organisations versus those who depend solely on the Irish economy.
It’s no surprise that the latter are generally still in decline with the only good news
being that the rate of decline has slowed to a stop and a slight increase in the
number of contract positions. Permanent roles are still in short supply.
Export orientated organisations are mirroring their markets and in general are
stable or increasing headcount. These include the software industry, worldwide or European HQ’s indigeneous Irish companies that derive turnover from overseas operations. The skill set these organisations require however is not always
readily available due to a shortage of staff with experience in worldwide or
European markets that have at least two languages..
