JOB OBJECTIVE:
Responsible for the successful leadership and management of all environmental issues.
JOB CONTENT (Main Tasks / Activities)
Leadership
- Participate with the senior management teamin developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the engineering department
- Identify, assess, and inform the SMTs of internal and external issues that affect the organization
Operational planning and management
- Develop an operational plan which incorporates objectives that work towards the implemnation of strategic direction of the department
- Ensure that the organization meets the expectations of its stakeholders
- Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the organization to ensure continuous improvemen
Financial planning and management
Liaise with staff and the SMTto prepare a comprehensive budget and to secure adequate funding
Human resources planning and management
- Determine staffing requirements
- Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices
- Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
- Coach, mentor and disipline staff as appropriate to improve performance
Risk management
- Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization’s people (clients, staff, management, stakeholders), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks
- Ensure that the SMT and the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverag
The Person
- 5+ years experience in environmental leadership role
- Relevant degree or masters level qualification in engineering
- Experience in a start up/ ramp up situation desirable
- Fluency in English is a must- a second language is desirable
- Proactive and driven team player
