Our client is a multinational company in rapidy expansion. They have developed a world beating suite of products. As part of a worldwide roll out our client is looking for a Head of Enginering.

JOB OBJECTIVE: Responsible for the successful leadership and management of process design and project engineers. The main objective of the role is to lead the growth of thel engineering design and projects department in Ireland and globally..The role will consist of overseeing process design and implementation to lean six sigma standards. Manage process and capital project support to 10+ global manufacturing facilities.

JOB CONTENT (Main Tasks / Activities)

Leadership
  • Participate with the senior management team(SMT) in developing a vision and strategic plan to guide the engineering department
  • Identify, assess, and inform the SMTs of internal and external issues that affect the organization
Operational planning and management
  • Develop an operational plan which incorporates objectives that work towards the implemnation of strategic direction of the enginering department
  • Ensure that the manufacturing process operations of the organization meets the expectations of its stakeholders
  • Monitor the day-to-day delivery of the programs and services of the organization to ensure continuous improvement
Financial planning and management
  • Liaise with staff and the SMTto prepare a comprehensive budget and to secure adequate funding for engineering operations
  • Approve expenditures within the authority delegated by the SMT
  • Administer the approved budget and monitor same
  • Provide the SMT with comprehensive, regular management reports
Human resources planning and management
  • Determine staffing requirements
  • Oversee the implementation of the human resources policies, procedures and practices
  • Implement a performance management process for all staff which includes monitoring the performance of staff on an on-going basis and conducting an annual performance review
  • Coach, mentor and disipline staff as appropriate to improve performance
Risk management
  • Identify and evaluate the risks to the organization’s people (clients, staff, management, stakeholders), property, finances, goodwill, and image and implement measures to control risks
  • Ensure that the SMT and the organization carries appropriate and adequate insurance coverage

The Perosn

  • 5+ years experience in technical leadership role with a manufacturing environment
  • Relevant degree or masters level qualification in engineering
  • Experience in a start up/ ramp up situation desirable
  • Fluency in English is a must- a second language is desirable
  • Proactive and driven team player
