Role

As Purchasing Manager, you will report directly to the Board of Directors with full responsibility for company spend and stock management. You will work in partnership with Quality Control, Accounts, Marketing, Sales and New Product Development teams as well as our team in China. You will review current procurement procedures in line with a cost savings and development strategy ensuring the most efficient return on investment in stock.
Responsibilities

Strategic
  • Develop, implement, and communicate strategies, goals, and objectives to improve supply chain performance
  • Implement new stock & forecasting system with assistance of IT department
  • Continuous assessment of suppliers and China office performance
  • Supplier Consolidation – switchover handled in an effective, efficient manner to ensure no out of stock
  • Seeking price reductions from suppliers in line with market trends and developments
  • Integration of departments – work alongside NPD / QC / RD&I to ensure no plans are conflicting
  • Implementation of PLM – Product Life Cycle Management
  • Liaise with Warehouse manager to plan & implement UK hub project
Operational
  • Overseeing company spend & stock levels for  – Australian / Irish / Export markets to ensure KPI’s are achieved in line with company objectives / targets
  • Development & recognition of Purchasing Assistant Manager, once annual appraisal & salary review
  • Management of all suppliers regarding all aspects of price, delivery, lead times, MOQ, payment & freight terms
  • Targeted price reductions set out on a rolling 12-month plan and reviewed quarterly
  • Travel to China to meet with suppliers and the China Office two to three times per annum
  • Annual Supplier Business review meetings held in an effective manner every December
  • Meeting preparation for all supplier meetings with clear objectives set out
  • Attend UK Regional Sales meetings where necessary, followed by customer calls
  • Attend Management meetings

Requirements

  • High-powered, strong negotiation skills
  • IIPMM Degree qualified in Business & Supply Chain
  • Demand planning / procurement professional with 7yrs+ experience, ideally in the Lighting sector
  • Strong stakeholder / supplier management experience
  • Experience leading & implementing projects from start to finish
  • Experience leading tenders process from start to finish, specifically RFI’s
  • Proficiency in the use of Excel, including advanced spreadsheet tools
  • Proven problem solving, planning and analytical skills, high standard of numeracy is a must
  • Product life cycle management experience
  • SAP experience
